When was the last time that a test series-deciding match was this hotly anticipated? India has been so dominant at home that they have sewn up series much before heading into the final match, while Australia has also swung between being totally dominant or being completely outplayed so they have not been in this situation for a while either...
4th Test - 25th March 2017 - Match Review
The series tied at 1-1 heading into the fourth and final match of the series means that Australia has had a much better series than anyone would have dreamt them having. Another draw or maybe even a victory here and this series becomes one for the ages for the Australians.
India would have been frustrated at being unable to bowl Australia out on the fifth and final day at Ranchi and the pressure is definitely going to be on them going into this match. Virat Kohli has failed to fire in this series and been completely outplayed in this series so far. His golden run of form seems to have ended at just the right time for the Australians, although we would not count him out just yet.
Virat Kohli is someone who loves the pressure and getting into an altercation only seems to bring the best out of him. We think he could well hit back with solid innings on this pitch.
Pujara is the other batsman who India would love to continue in the rich vein of form he has shown so far, however, if the curator stays true to his word and produces a bouncy track then we think the Indian number three might struggle.
Lokesh Rahul and Murali Vijay will be put through some testing times as the wicket at Dharamshala usually offers something for the fast bowlers up front.
There has been some talk about a change in the Indian team and the inclusion of an extra fast bowler, but we don’t think that there will be any change to the number of batsmen being played with. Mohammad Shami is India’s first-choice fast bowler and could come into the team in place of Ishant Sharma if he is fully fit.
With Ravi Ashwin losing form, Ravindra Jadeja will continue to be our choice for the top wicket taker in this match.
